Weather Forecast: Carnival Is Coming And So Is The Rain

The rain is coming to Gran Canaria this weekend in time for carnival The rain is coming to Gran Canaria this weekend in time for carnival

There's a low pressure heading down towards the Canary Islands from Portugal and it's going to cause cloud, wind and rain over the weekend.

This is the first real weather to hit Gran Canaria this winter and it starts to arrive on Thursday with cloud and showers in the evening in the north.

By Friday, the cloud will cover the whole island (there could still be sunny periods in the south) and the north will get more rain.

The weekend will be cold(ish), cloudy, windy and wet, but just how much rain depends on how close the low pressure gets to the Canary Islands.

We expect the wettest day to be Saturday.

The sea will be rough all around the island for the next few days with the biggest waves along the north coast; it won't be sunny, but the surf is going to be epic.

If you are on holiday in Gran Canaria, then take advantage of the sunshine today because it is going to the last sunny day for a few days.
