It's still technically winter but it won't feel like it in Gran Canaria this week thanks to a burst of hot African air carrying some dust.
The calima is being dragged over the Canary Islands by a low-pressure system to the west of the islands. This system won't affect the island directly so there's no chance of rain this week.
The dust will be high in the atmosphere so expect hazy skies until Friday when it looks like we'll get a proper calima day with dusty skies and limited visibility.
Temperatures this week could reach over 30ºC during the heat of the day.
South Gran Canaria will get some waves this week; nothing huge but enough to require caution on the rocks and to give exposed beaches like Patalavaca and Taurito some waves.
